Abstract
This paper aims to analyze the first Spanish subscription to a printed work: the Torres Villarroel Works (1751-1752). The study of the editorial forms for this subscription, but also the study of subscribers’ sociology (geographical distribution, gender, state order, etc.), allows us to outline the hypothesis that subscription could constitute a new canon of readers, parallel to the literary canon stricto sensu.
