Abstract

All of Diego de Torres Villarroel’s work has a decide autobiographical character, including his poetry. His Juguetes de Talía are filled with allusions to episodes in his life, to his personal experience and anecdotes, to people from his time, to historical events, etc. Practically all his poetic works have references to himself, to the extreme that we could sustain that the main subject of his work is the very character of Torres. His life is a «life to be told», and his poetry, like the rest of his production, is also marked by that desire to «tell itself».
