Abstract

This article analyzes the sonority of asprezza in three encomiastic Spanish poems: Bermúdez de Castro's Panegírico al duque de Alba , Góngora's Panegírico al duque de Lerma, and Enríquez de Navarra's Panegírico a Felipe V. The article examines two aspects of epic matter that are particularly significant: war themes and the storm at sea.
